Jean Paul Gaultier has announced that he is ending his ready to wear line after 38 years. Instead, he will focus on couture, his beauty line, and various other collaborations.
“For some time, I have found true fulfillment in working on haute couture and it allows me to express my creativity and my taste for research and experimentation. At the same time the world of ready-to-wear has evolved considerably,” said Gaultier to WWD. “Commercial constraints, as well as the frenetic pace of collections, don’t leave any freedom, nor the necessary time to find fresh ideas and to innovate.”
Jean Paul Gaultier will present his last ready to wear collection on 27 September at Paris Fashion Week.
